Washington, 15 June (HS): US President Donald Trump has said that a peace agreement between the United States and Iran has been finalised and is scheduled to be formally signed in Switzerland on June 19.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the agreement as complete and said it would contribute to peace and security in the region.

According to Trump, the agreement is expected to lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz following the formal signing ceremony. He said the arrangement would facilitate the movement of global oil supplies through the strategic waterway.

Trump also stated that the United States and Iran would continue discussions on issues related to Iran's nuclear programme after the signing of the agreement.

The US President said the agreement was reached with the assistance of mediators and expressed confidence that it would help stabilise the region.

There was no immediate official response available from Iranian authorities regarding Trump's announcement.
