Washington, 13 June (H.S.): The United States government has released a fresh batch of files detailing dozens of unexplained aerial sightings, offering new insights into mysterious objects reported across the country while stopping short of providing any evidence of extraterrestrial life.

The documents, made public on Friday as part of an ongoing transparency initiative ordered by President Donald Trump, contain reports from military personnel, federal agents, intelligence officials and private citizens who claimed to have witnessed unusual objects in the sky over recent decades.

The latest release includes 72 newly disclosed files and forms part of a broader declassification effort that has already made approximately 300 government records available to the public. The documents date from the 1940s through recent years and focus on incidents involving what US authorities now describe as Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs), a term that has largely replaced the traditional label of UFOs.

Despite public anticipation, the newly released records contain no conclusive proof of alien spacecraft, extraterrestrial civilizations or government cover-ups. Instead, they provide a detailed look at investigations into a number of unusual sightings that remain either unexplained or only partially understood.

One of the most intriguing cases occurred on February 17, 2022, near Colorado Springs, Colorado. According to an investigative report, five US Army personnel stationed at Fort Carson observed an unusual object hovering above the area near Cheyenne Mountain.

Witnesses described the object as having a potato-like shape with a pale, shimmering appearance. They reported that its surface resembled irregular fish scales and that it remained motionless in the sky for approximately two minutes before suddenly disappearing.

Investigators considered several possible explanations, including sunlight reflecting off snow-covered terrain and illuminating clouds. However, the witnesses maintained that the weather was clear and cloudless at the time. No photographs, videos, aircraft activity or weather balloons were identified that could definitively explain the sighting. The case remains unresolved.

Another notable incident took place in October 2023, when six federal law-enforcement officers reported seeing bright orange and red glowing spheres appearing repeatedly above a ridgeline. According to witness accounts, larger orange orbs appeared to generate smaller red spheres before vanishing.

In one instance, an object reportedly remained stationary in the sky for several hours. Analysts examined the possibility that military exercises, illumination flares or experimental technologies may have been responsible. While these explanations were considered plausible, investigators were unable to reach a definitive conclusion.

Among the most recent reports is a February 2026 file documenting an encounter in the northeastern United States. A resident returning home reportedly observed a brilliant red sphere hovering below nearby treetops. The witness described a bright white core inside the object resembling a glowing ball of plasma.

According to the report, a second sphere later appeared and both objects silently moved away from the area. Investigators reviewed cellphone footage showing two glowing red lights in the sky, but the evidence was insufficient to determine their origin.

The newly released archive also includes a previously undisclosed intelligence report from Zimbabwe dating back to 2008. Witnesses near the country's main international airport reported observing a disc-shaped object featuring a hollow centre and rotating lights beneath its structure.

Observers stated that coloured beams of light appeared to emanate from the craft before it ascended rapidly and disappeared from view. The report notes that investigators considered multiple possibilities, including advanced foreign technology and more speculative theories involving extraterrestrial origins, but no definitive explanation was reached.

Many of the investigations were conducted by the Pentagon's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, which was established by Congress in 2022 to examine reports of unidentified aerial and anomalous phenomena.

The office has repeatedly stated that, despite reviewing hundreds of cases, it has found no verifiable evidence linking any reported incidents to extraterrestrial life. Most cases have eventually been attributed to balloons, drones, atmospheric conditions, military activities or other conventional explanations, while a smaller number remain unresolved due to insufficient data.

The latest disclosures underscore the US government's effort to increase transparency surrounding unexplained aerial sightings. However, while the files reveal fascinating witness accounts and previously unseen investigative records, they leave one of humanity's most enduring questions unanswered: whether intelligent life exists beyond Earth.

For now, officials say the evidence remains inconclusive, and the mystery surrounding many of these sightings continues to fuel public curiosity and scientific debate.
