Nestlé India has rejected allegations regarding the presence of insects in Maggi noodles, asserting that laboratory tests have confirmed that all products comply with prescribed quality and food safety standards.
In a clarification submitted to stock exchanges on Saturday, the leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company said it received the complaint through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) after concerns were raised by an unverified account on social media platform X.
The company issued the clarification in response to queries from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) regarding a news report published on June 12. Nestlé India stated, We categorically reject the allegations circulating in the media that are based on an unverified claim regarding the presence of insects in Maggi noodles.
According to the company, independent laboratory tests as well as quality assessments conducted on production batches and market samples confirmed that the products fully comply with all food safety and quality requirements.
Nestlé India further said that it has not yet received any product sample from the complainant for examination. The company added that attempts to contact the individual who raised the allegation were unsuccessful because the social media account from which the complaint originated could not be accessed.
