New Delhi, 13 June (H.S.): Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has directed the high-level committee constituted to study demographic changes in the country to specifically examine population shifts occurring in border districts.
Chairing a meeting of the committee here on Saturday, Shah also instructed its members to visit border regions, metropolitan cities, and industrial townships to assess the situation on the ground and gain a comprehensive understanding of demographic trends.
Notably, the Central Government last month constituted a high-level committee under the chairmanship of retired Justice Prakash Prabhakar Naolekar to study unusual demographic changes and illegal infiltration in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the formation of the committee on August 15, 2025.
The committee has been tasked with examining the nature and impact of demographic changes in various parts of the country and providing policy recommendations to the government based on its findings.
