Dubai, 11 June (H.S.):

The identities of all seven employees who lost their lives in a road accident on Emirates Road on Sunday have been confirmed. Their employer has stated that the victims included six Indian expatriates and one young man from Sri Lanka. Among the Indian nationals, three were from Uttar Pradesh and three from Telangana. The employer company is headquartered in Sharjah.

According to Gulf News, the company said that the deceased Indian employees were Markandeya Chauhan (39), Abdul Rashid (38), and Mohammad Saqib (31), all from Uttar Pradesh. Saleem Sayyed (51), Abdul Rafiq (37), and Tirupati Gollapalli (23) were from Telangana. The seventh victim, Samuel Rangasamy (34), was a resident of Sri Lanka’s Northern Province.

A company spokesperson said that five of the seven employees were between 30 and 40 years of age. The youngest victim, Tirupati Gollapalli, had turned 23 only last month. The oldest, Saleem Sayyed, was also born in May, according to official records. Mohammad Saqib was only a few weeks away from celebrating his 32nd birthday. With the exception of Tirupati and Mohammad, all of the victims were married and had families back home.

The spokesperson said that the men were employed in various roles ranging from construction helpers to skilled specialists. They were returning to their accommodation in Sharjah on Sunday when the accident occurred. The minibus in which they were travelling collided with a truck that was stationary in the middle of Emirates Road near the Dubai–Sharjah border.

The company spokesperson added that the families of all the deceased and injured workers have been informed, and Dubai Police are also in contact with them. Of the nine people injured in the crash, four remained under treatment in two separate hospitals as of Wednesday night. Three of them are receiving intensive care. Two are reported to be in critical condition, while the third is said to be out of danger. The fourth injured employee is in stable condition and is being treated in a general ward. The remaining five injured workers have already been discharged from hospital.

According to the spokesperson, the company has announced a relief fund for the affected families. Each family of the deceased will receive AED 100,000. A separate allocation of AED 180,000 has been set aside for the nine injured survivors based on their medical and recovery requirements. Additionally, AED 70,000 has been earmarked to cover travel and accommodation expenses for family members, while AED 50,000 has been designated to support the education of children from the affected families.
