MOSCOW, June 10 (HS/RIA Novosti) - A decision on a permanent US base in Poland will be made in the near future, Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Wednesday.
Talks with the Pentagon on permanent presence are ongoing, Kosiniak-Kamysz said in an interview with the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.
A planning process is underway in the United States, he added.
Asked whether the process would take a year or less, the minister said that a decision would be reached much sooner. He noted that the planning process would be completed within a few weeks.
A period of intense work, declarations of readiness and preparation on the Polish side lies ahead of us, Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
Currently, about 10,000 American soldiers are stationed in Poland on a rotational basis.
