New Delhi, June 1 (H.S.): Following a meeting of its Central Election Committee, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday late evening released its list of candidates for the 2026 biennial elections and by-election to the Maharashtra Legislative Council. The list comprises the names of ten candidates.

The BJP’s Central Election Committee approved the names of candidates who will contest from various Local Authorities’ Constituencies across the state. The party has nominated industrialist Arun Lakhani from the Wardha–Chandrapur–Gadchiroli Local Authorities’ Constituency, while Avinash Brahmankar has been fielded from the Bhandara–Gondia Constituency.

In addition, the party has nominated Pravin Pote Patil from Amravati, Dhairyashil Kadam from Sangli–Satara, Rajendra Raut from Solapur, and Prajakt Tanpure from Ahilyanagar.

The party has also named Suhas Sirsat from the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalna Constituency, Amar Rajurkar from Nanded, Nandkishor Mahajan from Jalgaon, and Basavaraj Patil from the Dharashiv–Latur–Beed Constituency.

At the same time, for the Maharashtra Legislative Council by-election, the BJP has nominated Dr. Rajiv Potdar from Nagpur.

It is noteworthy that elections for 16 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council are scheduled to be held on June 18. The last date for filing nominations is June 1, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June 2, the final date for withdrawal of candidatures is June 4, and the counting of votes will be conducted on June 22.
