
Ferozepur , 01 June (H.S.): A shopkeeper was shot dead in broad daylight in Makhu town of Ferozepur
district on Monday, triggering panic among traders and residents in the busy
market area. The incident took place at around 12:30 pm. The deceased has been identified as , owner of Gaba
General Store located in the main market of Makhu.
According to preliminary information, two unidentified assailants arrived on
a motorcycle and opened fire on Gurcharan Singh Gaba. The attackers allegedly
fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene. The sudden attack created chaos
in the market as shopkeepers and customers ran for safety.
Local residents and traders immediately rushed the injured shopkeeper to a
nearby hospital. However, despite the efforts of doctors, he succumbed to his
injuries shortly after being admitted.
Senior police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information
about the incident and launched an investigation. Police teams have started
examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments and are collecting evidence
from the crime scene to identify the accused and ascertain the motive behind
the murder.
Police officials said the investigation is progressing and several leads are
being examined. More details are expected to emerge as the probe moves forward.
Authorities are investigating the case from all possible angles to determine
the motive and identify those involved in the killing.
