Amritsar, 01 June (H.S.): A government school teacher was brutally murdered

in broad daylight in Amritsar district on Monday while returning home after

dropping his daughter at a tuition center. The victim, identified as Jagdeep

Singh, a resident of Talwandi village, was allegedly attacked by unidentified

assailants near the Narayangarh drain at around 2 pm.

According to police and family members, Jagdeep Singh had gone to drop his

daughter for tuition classes and was on his way back when the attackers

intercepted him on the road. The assailants allegedly assaulted him with

sharp-edged weapons and inflicted fatal injuries to his neck and head. He died

on the spot due to excessive blood loss.

The victim’s body was found lying face down on the roadside, while his

motorcycle and slippers were recovered from the scene, indicating that the

attack took place while he was travelling home. The brutal nature of the murder

shocked local residents and family members.

Surinder Singh, the victim’s uncle, said the family was unable to understand

why Jagdeep Singh was targeted. He stated that Jagdeep had no known enmity,

personal disputes or criminal background and was known for his calm and

peaceful nature. “He was a government teacher and lived a simple life. We have

no idea who could have committed this crime or what the motive behind it was,”

he said.

Following the incident, police teams reached the spot and launched an

investigation. Forensic evidence is being collected, and officers are examining

all possible angles related to the murder.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Baljit Singh said police received

information that Jagdeep Singh had suffered serious injuries. Upon reaching the

scene, investigators found that he had sustained severe wounds to his head and

neck caused by a sharp-edged weapon.

The DSP said preliminary inquiries and information gathered from local

residents suggest that the deceased may have been involved in a domestic

dispute. However, police have not reached any definite conclusion and are

keeping all possibilities open.

Police officials said efforts are underway to identify and trace the

attackers. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being examined as part of the

investigation. Authorities have assured that the case will be thoroughly

investigated and those responsible for the murder will be brought to justice.
