Kolkata, 01 June (H.S.): Police on Monday conducted a search operation at the residence of Trinamool Congress leader and State General Secretary Kalpana Sheet in Deuli under Belda police station limits of Paschim Medinipur district. The action was carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial transactions linked to the sand trade.

According to police sources, a team comprising officers from Kharagpur Town Police Station and other senior officials visited Sheet’s residence to examine documents and gather evidence related to the case. Investigators scrutinized various records and sought information concerning alleged financial dealings connected to individuals involved in the sand business.

Kalpana Sheet was arrested on Saturday in connection with allegations of financial transactions involving members of a sand mining network. She was subsequently produced before a court, which remanded her to police custody for further interrogation and investigation.

As part of the probe, police officials inspected her residence in Deuli and searched for documents, records and other materials that could assist investigators in establishing the nature and extent of the alleged transactions. Authorities also collected information regarding several aspects of the case during the search operation.

Police have declined to disclose further details, citing the ongoing investigation. However, officials stated that all angles of the case are being thoroughly examined and that the inquiry remains active.
