Guwahati, 01 June (HS): Senior Congress leader and MP Rokibul Hussain has once again come under political scrutiny following the appointment of his son, Tanzil Hussain, as a Vice President of the Assam Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC).

The development has sparked discussions within political circles, with critics alleging that the appointment reflects growing family-centric politics within the Congress party in Assam. The move comes after Rokibul Hussain had earlier faced criticism over the political rise of his son, who was subsequently elected as an MLA.

Opponents have also linked the latest appointment to the Congress leadership’s recent decision to elevate Wajed Ali Choudhury as Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, alleging that key positions within the party and legislature are increasingly being influenced by a select group of leaders.

Political observers and rival parties have termed the appointment an example of dynastic politics, claiming that important organizational posts are being allocated through unilateral decisions rather than broader internal consultation.
