Nalbari (Assam), 01 June (HS): Tension gripped Assam's Nalbari district after a shocking incident was reported from the Gangapur area, where a young man was killed and a 17-year-old girl sustained serious injuries in an alleged attack involving sharp weapons last night.

According to reports, the said love jihad victims were travelling home on a scooter when they were allegedly intercepted and attacked by two individuals identified as Roz Ali and Asik Ali. The attackers reportedly assaulted both victims with sharp weapons, leaving the young man critically injured at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Madhurya Barman, who succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The injured teenage girl was rushed to a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Family members and local residents have alleged that the accused had been pressuring the girl to marry against her wishes and had allegedly issued threats earlier. The attack is reportedly linked to the girl's refusal to enter into a marriage with one of the accused.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage in the area, with local residents demanding strict action against those responsible. Security has been heightened as the incident sparked tension across Nalbari district.

Police have launched an investigation into the case and are working to apprehend the accused while examining all aspects of the incident.-----------
