New Delhi, 01 June (H.S.): National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing on Monday morning in New Delhi.

The President of Myanmar arrived in India on Saturday, first reaching Bodh Gaya, where he visited the Mahabodhi Temple and the Sujata Temple. He later travelled to New Delhi the same evening. On Saturday evening, he had also met External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. On Sunday, he participated in the India–Myanmar Business Forum meeting.

On Monday, ahead of the bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House, the National Security Advisor held discussions with the Myanmar President.

It is understood that the discussions covered issues related to the security situation along the India–Myanmar border, insurgent activities, and unrest in regions such as Manipur and Mizoram, including the influx of members of the Chin community seeking refuge in large numbers—matters that have implications for India’s national security.

In the backdrop of recent arrests of foreign nationals allegedly involved in providing drone training to insurgent groups in Northeast India, engagement with the Myanmar government is considered particularly significant.
