PM Modi, Myanmar President Hold Talks to Deepen Friendship and Cooperation


New Delhi, 01 June (HS):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing held bilateral talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, the purpose of the Myanmar President’s visit is to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. During the discussions, both sides reviewed ways to deepen the longstanding historical and civilisational ties shared by India and Myanmar.

President Min Aung Hlaing is on an official visit to India from May 30 to June 3. On the first day of his visit, he travelled to Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya, and he is scheduled to visit Mumbai on June 2.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Myanmar occupies a pivotal position at the intersection of India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’, ‘Act East’, and ‘MAHASAGAR’ policies. The ministry noted that President Min Aung Hlaing’s official visit is expected to further strengthen the multifaceted relationship between the two countries.

The discussions underscored the commitment of both nations to enhancing cooperation across a wide range of sectors and reinforcing their longstanding partnership.
