
NEW DELHI, June 1 (H.S.): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari reviewed the quality and maintenance of national highway projects spanning 3,748 kilometres in West Bengal. The review was conducted on the basis of inputs received from media reports and social media platforms.
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the review meeting was held in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra, senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India, National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, officials from the ministry, and project contractors.
During the meeting, Gadkari emphasized the need to accelerate on-ground execution, strengthen quality monitoring mechanisms, and adopt modern construction technologies. He noted that these measures would enhance the longevity of highway infrastructure, improve ride quality, and ensure seamless connectivity across the state.
The minister also directed officials to undertake comprehensive pre-monsoon preparedness measures. These include effective drainage management systems, slope protection initiatives, and rapid-response mechanisms aimed at minimizing traffic disruptions and ensuring the safety of commuters during the rainy season.
