
Bhubaneswar, 01 June (H.S.): Odisha’s Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) have achieved a significant milestone as three of their alumni have successfully cleared the prestigious Odisha Civil Services Examination conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), highlighting the transformative impact of quality education among tribal communities.
Leading the list of achievers is Ms. Nilima Kumari Nayak, a member of the Gond tribe from Keonjhar district, who secured the 194th rank in the examination. An alumna of EMRS Ranki, Nilima completed her schooling in 2017 and is currently serving as an Assistant Labour Officer. The daughter of a retired Hindi teacher and a school matron, her remarkable journey from a tribal residential school to the state civil services has become an inspiration for aspiring tribal youth across Odisha.
Another notable success story is that of Shri Krushna Chandra Hembram of the Santal tribe from Keonjhar district, who secured the 185th rank. A 2017 graduate of EMRS Rampilo, Krushna currently serves as a teacher at EMRS Bhawanipur. His achievement reflects extraordinary perseverance and determination, as he overcame the loss of both his parents while pursuing his dream of entering public service.
Adding further glory to the EMRS network is Shri Keshaba Majhi from the Bhatra tribe of Nabarangpur district, who secured the 182nd rank. An alumnus of EMRS Hirli, Keshaba is presently working as a teacher. Coming from a modest farming family, his success in the civil services examination stands as a testament to hard work, dedication, and the opportunities created through quality education.
The accomplishments of these three young achievers underscore the growing success of the Eklavya Model Residential Schools initiative in Odisha. Established to provide quality education to tribal students in remote and underserved regions, EMRS institutions have consistently nurtured talent and empowered students to compete successfully at the highest levels.
