New Delhi, June 1 (H.S.): The Indian National Congress has accused the Central Government of undermining the country's education system, alleging that recurring incidents of examination paper leaks are jeopardizing the future of millions of young aspirants. The party said that repeated irregularities in competitive examinations have left students disillusioned, while some have been driven to extreme measures, including suicide, due to mounting mental stress.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters on Monday, party media department chairman Pawan Khera said that paper leak incidents have become a recurring problem across the country, adversely affecting the prospects of countless students. Referring to examinations such as NEET, CUET, JEE Main, and Bihar Public Service Commission examinations, he claimed that millions of candidates have been impacted by irregularities.
Khera further alleged that changes were made to regulations during the tendering process for the evaluation and scanning system of examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, resulting in benefits being extended to a particular company. He claimed that major firms, including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), had participated in the earlier tender process, but subsequent modifications to the eligibility conditions enabled a different company to secure the opportunity.
He stated that the changes introduced in the answer-sheet evaluation and scanning process have raised concerns regarding transparency. According to Khera, students are being charged fees for re-evaluation, thereby increasing the financial burden on parents and guardians.
Khera also asserted that government expenditure on education has declined, creating a serious challenge for the future of the country's youth. He said that while students continue to struggle with issues related to examinations and employment opportunities, public discourse is often focused on matters unrelated to their pressing concerns.
