Brighton, 07 May (H.S.): Manchester City secured the Women's Football Super League title for the first time in a decade on Wednesday. The final title contender, Arsenal, was held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion, handing the championship to Manchester City.
Manchester City amassed 52 points from 21 of their 22 matches. Arsenal needed to win all four remaining games to stay in contention, but the draw against Brighton shattered those hopes, sending the trophy to North-West instead of North London.
Fresh off last week's Champions League semi-final loss to OL Lyon, Arsenal showed clear pressure. Fuka Tsunoda gave Brighton the lead just before halftime. Norway's midfielder Frida Maanum equalized for Arsenal after an hour of play, but they couldn't find a winner despite late efforts.
This result ended Manchester City's 10-year wait for the Women's Super League trophy, marking a significant milestone after prolonged anticipation.
