
Islamabad, 07 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a one-day visit to Gilgit-Baltistan today. During the trip, he will meet Governor Syed Mehdi Shah and Chief Minister Yar Mohammad in the capital Gilgit to discuss key administrative and developmental matters.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, Sharif is departing for this one-day visit to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir's Gilgit-Baltistan. A high-level delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Awaiz Ahmad Khan Leghari, Attaullah Tarar, Amir Muqam, Abdul Aleem Khan, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Advisor Rana Sanaullah. Officials stated that the delegation will review ongoing development projects and administrative affairs in the region.
This visit is regarded as part of the federal government's continuous efforts to improve governance-administration and accelerate development works in Gilgit-Baltistan. Notably, historically and legally, Gilgit-Baltistan constitutes an integral part of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Currently, this region remains under Pakistan's illegal and unlawful occupation. According to India, the area has been legally part of the country since the accession of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947.
