New Delhi, 06 May (H.S.):
Union Labour & Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate a nationwide free annual health check-up initiative for workers on Thursday, May 7.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Labour & Employment stated that Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will launch this nationwide annual health check-up program for workers aged 40 years and above, as proposed under the new Labour Codes.
According to the Ministry, the Union Labour & Employment Minister will formally inaugurate this initiative from ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Basai Darapur, New Delhi. Simultaneously, inauguration programs will be held at 11 other ESIC hospitals across the country, attended by state Labour Ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and other dignitaries.
The Ministry stated that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision under the comprehensive Shramev Jayate framework, which emphasizes labour dignity and robust social security for workers. It is based on transformative reforms introduced through the four new Labour Codes, which consolidate 29 central labour laws into four comprehensive pillars. These reforms aim to simplify compliance, promote formalization of employment, and expand the scope of social security.
The Ministry informed that for ESI scheme beneficiaries, these check-ups will be conducted through ESIC's extensive hospital network, with special emphasis on early disease detection, preventive health measures, and continuous health monitoring. This nationwide initiative represents a significant step towards strengthening occupational health systems, ensuring comprehensive healthcare access for India's workforce, and advancing the 'Viksit Bharat 2047' vision.
