Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officially announced the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship 2026 on Wednesday at the Delhi Secretariat. She stated that Delhi is now set to establish its new identity on the global sporting stage.
Posting on her social media account X, the Chief Minister revealed that this prestigious championship, to be held from July 27 to August 2 at Thyagraj Stadium, will feature participation from players of over 35 Commonwealth nations including England, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and Malaysia.
She said this championship will showcase Delhi's modern sports facilities, superior infrastructure, and world-class event hosting capabilities to the world.
On this occasion, Delhi Sports Minister Ashish Sood along with senior officials from the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation and Table Tennis Federation of India were present.
Sports Minister Ashish Sood stated that players from over 35 Commonwealth countries will participate in the 22nd Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship. This prestigious event will highlight Delhi's world-class sports infrastructure and further strengthen our 'Vision 2036' for Olympic excellence. He emphasized that under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's leadership, they are fully committed to promoting sports and hosting global events.
