
Imphal, 05 May (HS). Security forces carried out a series of successful operations across Manipur over last 24 hours, leading to the recovery of arms and the arrest of two active militants belonging to different proscribed outfits.
According to the official information on Tuesday, during a search operation conducted at Leishangthem Ikop Pat area under Thoubal Police Station in Thoubal district, security personnel recovered a cache of weapons. The seized items included one SMG carbine with magazine, four bolt-action rifles, one 9 mm pistol along with a magazine and three live rounds.
In a separate development, acting on inputs related to a case registered at Singjamei Police Station, security forces apprehended an active cadre of KYKL. The arrested individual has been identified as Maibam Romio Singh (52), also known as Ronald, a resident of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai Mongkhang Lambi in Imphal East district. A mobile phone and an Aadhaar card were recovered from his possession.
Earlier, another operation led to the arrest of an active cadre of KCP (Ibungo Ngangomba faction) from Kakching Khunou Lamkhai area along the Indo-Burma Sugnu Road under Waikhong Police Station in Kakching district. The arrested militant, identified as Laishram Anil alias Chara Singh (34) of Changangei Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district, was found in possession of a mobile phone and a Hyundai i20 car bearing registration number MN01AX-9290.
Security forces continue to intensify operations across the state to curb insurgent activities and maintain law and order.------------
