Lucknow,

04 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh Agriculture, Agricultural Education and Agricultural

Research Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, while reviewing the progress of KCC

(Kisan Credit Card) and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the committee room

of the Assembly on Monday, directed the concerned departments and banks for

effective implementation of the schemes.

In

the meeting, Minister Shahi stated that the Yogi government is committed to

increasing farmers' income and providing them with financial security. He added

that the Kisan Credit Card and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana are

extremely important schemes for farmers, and it should be ensured that their

benefits reach every eligible farmer. He directed that the data of

beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana should be used to

ensure that as many farmers as possible are linked to KCC. He said that

coordination between the schemes should be established by effectively utilizing

Farmer IDs on departmental portals, so that eligible farmers can be identified

and benefited.

During

the review, it was reported that a large number of KCC accounts in the state

are pending renewal, and many have been classified as NPAs (non-performing

assets). Minister Shahi directed that the banks and the department jointly

launch a campaign to encourage farmers to repay their loans on time and

regularize pending accounts. He said that a special campaign should be launched

starting May 15 to issue new KCCs and to connect as many farmers as possible.

Minister

Shahi stated that while the central and state governments are providing

substantial subsidies and interest rebates to farmers, if banks don't

cooperate, the benefits of these schemes will not reach farmers. He directed

banks to adopt a positive approach to promote agricultural investment and avoid

unnecessary delays in providing loans to farmers.
