Lucknow,
04 May (HS): Following catastrophic incidents, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath has cautioned youngsters not to put their lives in danger for
social media fame, encouraging them to prioritize real life above
reel pranks. He stressed discipline, asking parents to restrict
their children's smartphone use while focusing on governance, such as holding
Janta Darshan (public gatherings) and delivering ultimatums to land mafias. He
has written a message, deeply affected by recent catastrophes involving
teenagers producing reels (particularly, a water tank incident), warning
against risking life for internet validation.
Uttar
Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently posted an impassioned message
on social media, asking youngsters to prioritize safety above trending topics
and recommending parents to watch their children's social media usage. This
came after a terrible event in Siddharthnagar in which two youngsters died
while filming a video, forcing him to issue a plea against reckless acts.
Reel
vs. Real Life: Yogi advised against putting one's life in danger for social
media likes and views, emphasizing that real life takes precedence
over reel life. He urged young people to focus on artistic
interests rather than risky exploits on rails, bridges, and water tanks.
Message
to Parents: Parents were advised to encourage their children to utilize social
media for educational and constructive reasons rather than risky pranks.
The
letter referred to a specific occurrence in Siddharthnagar in which a youngster
died and several were injured while filming a video on a water tank. The letter
is a direct, heartfelt plea from the CM to the younger generation and their
families, imploring them to behave properly online.
UP
CM stated in a post on X, “My dear children, Today, many young people, ensnared
in the web of likes, views, and followers, are taking risks by performing
stunts inside homes and on the streets—showing off feats on speeding bikes and
cars, making videos by hanging off railway tracks and train doors, and taking
dangerous selfies on high-rise buildings, mountains, rivers, bridges,
expressways, and even water tanks. This is not only fatal for them but can also
shatter the dreams of their loved ones in an instant. The accidents happening
day after day bear witness to this. Do not stake your life for likes and views.
Learn to distinguish between 'reels' and 'real' life. Dear parents, I also want
to say a few things to you. The use of social media should be for gaining
knowledge and positive expression. It is also your responsibility to ensure
that your children make good use of their time. Inspire your children towards
creative pursuits.”
