Lucknow,

04 May (HS): The Yogi government has taken another important decision toward

continued expansion and quality improvement in higher education. In this

regard, a Letter of Intent has been issued to the Amardeep Memorial Trust,

Firozabad, under the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019, for the

establishment of Amardeep University, Firozabad.

While

providing information about the cabinet decisions, State Higher Education

Minister Yogendra Upadhyay stated that the Yogi government's goal is to make

higher education simple, accessible, and quality-oriented, right down to the

bottom line. He added that the government is ensuring the expansion of higher

education institutions in every district, so that students can access better

educational opportunities in their own areas.

He

explained that proposals received are evaluated by a high-level committee

chaired by the Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in accordance with

the procedures set forth under the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act,

2019, and the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Establishment) Rules, 2021, letters

of Intent are issued based on the committee's recommendations.

The

Higher Education Minister informed that the meeting of the high-level committee

was held on July 29, 2025, in which the proposal for establishment of Amardeep

University on 20.08 acres of land located in village Pachwan of Firozabad

district was approved and a recommendation was made to issue a letter of

intent.

He

also stated that the process for establishing a university requires the

concerned institution to have a minimum of 20 acres of land, which has been

completed by the Amardeep Memorial Trust. Following the committee's

recommendation, the government has issued a letter of intent, which will begin

the formal process of establishing the university.

Additionally,

the Metro University proposed by another reputed group in Noida has already

been granted the necessary Letter of Permission (LOP) to operate, further

accelerating the expansion of private sector higher education in the state.
