04 May (HS): The Yogi government has taken another important decision toward
continued expansion and quality improvement in higher education. In this
regard, a Letter of Intent has been issued to the Amardeep Memorial Trust,
Firozabad, under the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act, 2019, for the
establishment of Amardeep University, Firozabad.
While
providing information about the cabinet decisions, State Higher Education
Minister Yogendra Upadhyay stated that the Yogi government's goal is to make
higher education simple, accessible, and quality-oriented, right down to the
bottom line. He added that the government is ensuring the expansion of higher
education institutions in every district, so that students can access better
educational opportunities in their own areas.
He
explained that proposals received are evaluated by a high-level committee
chaired by the Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh, in accordance with
the procedures set forth under the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities Act,
2019, and the Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Establishment) Rules, 2021, letters
of Intent are issued based on the committee's recommendations.
The
Higher Education Minister informed that the meeting of the high-level committee
was held on July 29, 2025, in which the proposal for establishment of Amardeep
University on 20.08 acres of land located in village Pachwan of Firozabad
district was approved and a recommendation was made to issue a letter of
intent.
He
also stated that the process for establishing a university requires the
concerned institution to have a minimum of 20 acres of land, which has been
completed by the Amardeep Memorial Trust. Following the committee's
recommendation, the government has issued a letter of intent, which will begin
the formal process of establishing the university.
Additionally,
the Metro University proposed by another reputed group in Noida has already
been granted the necessary Letter of Permission (LOP) to operate, further
accelerating the expansion of private sector higher education in the state.
