Bhubaneswar, 04 May (H.S.): Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Monday disbursed financial assistance exceeding ₹61 crore to more than 79,000 beneficiaries who were previously left out of the ‘Subhadra’ scheme.
The assistance was released through virtual mode from the conference hall of the Women and Child Development Department in Bhubaneswar, with funds directly transferred to beneficiaries’ bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The beneficiaries had missed earlier instalments due to issues such as inactive NPCI linkage, e-KYC biometric errors, and pending grievance resolutions. Following due verification and resolution at various administrative levels, the eligible beneficiaries were included in the disbursement process.
According to official figures, 21,901 beneficiaries received the first instalment, 22,347 received the second instalment, while 79,601 beneficiaries were provided with the third instalment under the scheme.
Addressing the programme, Deputy Chief Minister Parida reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is excluded. She emphasized that all genuine cases will be addressed through a robust verification and grievance redressal mechanism. The ‘Subhadra’ scheme, she noted, is a significant initiative aimed at strengthening women’s financial empowerment in Odisha.
Parida also reviewed the status of left-out beneficiaries with district administrations, including those of Ganjam, Jajpur, and Kalahandi, and directed officials to expedite verification processes to facilitate timely inclusion.
The programme was attended by senior officials of the Women and Child Development Department, including Mrinalini Darswal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, and Swayam Prava Mohanty, Director (In-charge), along with Krutibas Rout and other departmental and district officials who joined the event virtually.
