Guwahati, 04 May (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate has emerged victorious from the Sissibargaon assembly constituency in the Assam Assembly elections, the counting of which was held on Monday.

According to the Election Commission, BJP candidate Jiban Gogoi secured a total of 75,758 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Dulal Chandra Baruah of the Congress-supported Raijor Dal, by a margin of 40,593 votes. Baruah managed to garner 35,165 votes in the constituency.

A total of 1,038 votes were recorded under NOTA. The result was declared after the completion of 19 rounds of counting.----------
