04 May (HS): Two men were detained on Monday for allegedly raping a lady in
their village, according to authorities. The incident occurred on Saturday near
the Gauriganj police station. According to a police officer, one of the
suspects knew the woman and spoke with her. On Saturday, when the woman went to
the fields, the accused reportedly intercepted her and took turns raping her.
When the lady refused, the accused threatened to harm her family. They
eventually escaped, according to authorities.
According
to sources, the woman's relatives filed a complaint with the Gauriganj police
station on Sunday. According to the Inspector in charge of Gauriganj, a FIR was
filed based on the complaint under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya
Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Both suspects were detained on Monday morning and appeared
in a local court during the day, which sent them to jail. He claimed the woman
had been taken for a medical evaluation.
