Imphal, 31 May (HS): Security force arrested an active extortionist cadre of the proscribed outfit People's Liberation Army (PLA)/Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) from Imphal East district on Saturday, officials said.

The arrested individual was identified as Aheibam Mangalsana Singh (27), a resident of Wangoi Laiphrakpam Maning Leikai in Imphal West district. He was apprehended from the New Checkon area under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district during a security operation. Police said the cadre was allegedly involved in extortion-related activities in the region.

In a separate operation conducted on the same day, Manipur Police detained Sairom Alvison (26), a resident of Tekcham Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district, from the Khongman Mangjin area of Imphal East district.

During the operation, police seized 551 cans of beer of different brands, each containing 500 ml, along with a Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 vehicle. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized consignment, officials added.-----------
