Imphal, 31 May (HS): The Malkhana of Irilbung Police Station of Manipur has been upgraded and transformed into an advanced E-Malkhana system under the initiative of Shivanand Surve, Superintendent of Police, Imphal East, and Pooja Malani, Officer-in-Charge of Irilbung Police Station.
The newly introduced system is designed to ensure scientific storage, proper management and efficient retrieval of case properties and exhibits. Under the E-Malkhana framework, every exhibit or property is assigned a unique barcode containing key details such as the FIR number, relevant legal sections, Investigating Officer’s name, description of exhibits, photographs, status updates, and disposal information, Manipur Police informed on Sunday.
The barcode is digitally linked to the corresponding case record, enabling police personnel to quickly identify and retrieve exhibits whenever required, police added. This integration enhances operational efficiency while reducing the chances of errors in handling case properties.
The E-Malkhana system promotes systematic documentation, accountability, transparency and improved preservation of seized materials through digital record management. Officials said the initiative marks a significant step towards modernization of police station administration and the adoption of scientific practices in evidence and property management.
The digital transformation has considerably improved the efficiency of Malkhana operations and is expected to strengthen the overall case management process within the police department.----------
