
Chennai, 30 May (H.S.):Mohini Mani, mother of acclaimed Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, passed away in Chennai on Saturday following age-related ailments. She was 85. Her demise has triggered an outpouring of grief from political leaders, film personalities, and millions of fans across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
According to family sources, Mohini Mani had been undergoing treatment for age-related health complications at a private hospital in Chennai. She breathed her last on Saturday morning. The final rites are expected to be held at Ajith Kumar’s residence in Palavakkam, Chennai.
Ajith Kumar, who is currently in Dubai, is expected to return to Chennai immediately to take part in the funeral proceedings and be with his family during this difficult time.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay expressed his heartfelt condolences over the demise of Mohini Mani. In his message, the Chief Minister conveyed his sympathies to Ajith Kumar and his family, acknowledging the immense personal loss suffered by the actor. Vijay also paid tribute to Mohini Mani’s memory and prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family.
DMK President M.K. Stalin also mourned her passing. In a message shared on social media, Stalin described Ajith Kumar as his “dear brother” and said he was deeply saddened by the news. He noted that no words could truly console Ajith Kumar, who had lost the mother who nurtured him, supported him throughout his life, and took pride in witnessing his remarkable achievements.
The loss comes nearly three years after the death of Ajith Kumar’s father, P. Subramani, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 84, making this another painful moment for the actor and his family.
Widely regarded as one of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated stars, Ajith Kumar has carved a unique place in the industry through hard work and determination, despite having no film background. Over the decades, he has earned a devoted fan following through numerous blockbuster films and memorable performances.
In recent years, Ajith has increasingly devoted time to his passion for professional motor racing, while continuing to remain one of the most admired personalities in Indian cinema.
