Mumbai, 30 May (HS): In case of deaths of 19 people

after consuming spurious country-made liquor, 22 government employees,

including nine police personnel and 13 Excise Department employees were

suspended for negligence in performing their duties. Although the administration

has claimed deaths of eight people in the case, the death of 19 people have

been reported, in Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune District.

Senior PI of Hadapsar Police Station Sanjay Mogle,

ASI Hasina Shikalgar and PSI Hasan Mulani of Crime Investigation Team have been

suspended with immediate effect. Ashok Ipar has been given charge of the

Hadapsar Police Station. PI Vijay Waghmare of Dapodi Police Station, Chief of

the Investigating Team and four others police personnel were also suspended.

Crime Branch PI Narendra Thakre has been posted at the Control Room.

The Excise Department is investigating in the case

and involvement of its employees in illegal liquor trade.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed Pune

Police Commissioner to initiate stern action against all those involved in the

case.
