Thiruvananthapuram, 30 May (H.S.):Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has directed officials to issue appointment orders without delay to 43 candidates included in the Sub-Inspector (SI) rank list, which is set to expire on June 9, 2026.
The directive comes in response to a representation submitted by candidates who feared losing their chance of securing government employment once the rank list lapses. Following their appeal, the Home Minister instructed the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department to take urgent steps to ensure that all eligible candidates are appointed before the validity period ends.
The SI rank list was published by the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) on June 9, 2025, and is scheduled to expire exactly one year later. With only a few days remaining before the list becomes invalid, candidates had expressed concern that they would miss out on appointments despite being included in the selection list.
Soon after assuming office, the UDF government had extended the validity of several PSC rank lists in an effort to provide more employment opportunities to candidates awaiting appointment. However, the extension order did not apply to the Sub-Inspector rank list, leaving those included in the list uncertain about their future prospects.
Concerned about the situation, candidates approached Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and submitted a memorandum highlighting their plight. After examining their request, the Minister directed the Home Department to take immediate action, stressing that no candidate should lose an employment opportunity due to procedural delays.
Sources in the Home Department said the Minister has emphasized the need for swift administrative action to complete the appointment process before the rank list expires. The move is expected to provide relief to the 43 candidates who were facing the prospect of losing their chance to join the police force.
The decision has been welcomed by candidates and their families, who had been anxiously awaiting clarity on their appointments as the expiry date of the rank list draws near.
