Hooghly, 30 May (H.S.): Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, as well as Animal Resources Development and Agricultural Marketing Minister, Dilip Ghosh, held a review meeting with Agriculture and Marketing Department officials at the Netaji Subhas Training Institute of Agricultural Marketing, located off Delhi Road in Baidyabati, Hooghly, on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Agriculture and Marketing Departments from various districts across the state. The primary focus of the discussion was to assess the functioning of departmental infrastructure and explore ways to improve efficiency and revenue generation.

During the meeting, special attention was given to government-owned warehouses and marketing facilities operating under the department. Officials reviewed instances where several warehouses and shops were either lying underutilized or were not being used in an effective manner. The minister stressed the need for better management and optimal utilization of these assets.

The availability of manpower across different offices was also discussed. Officials deliberated on staffing requirements, operational challenges, and strategies to enhance productivity within the departments.

According to sources, the meeting focused on identifying measures to increase departmental income, improve service delivery, and strengthen the agricultural marketing network across the state. Discussions also centered on maximizing the use of existing infrastructure and ensuring that government resources contribute more effectively to the sector's growth.

Dilip Ghosh emphasized the importance of regular monitoring and efficient resource management to improve departmental performance and generate greater benefits for farmers and stakeholders connected with agricultural marketing activities.
