Jammu, 03 May (H.S.): Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, today issued a public call for widespread participation in a mega anti-drug Padyatra under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, scheduled to be held at TRC Football Ground tomorrow.

Inviting citizens from all sections, Labroo said the march will bring together civil society representatives, Government officials, Police, trade bodies, and the general public to collectively send a strong message against substance abuse.

“The padyatra will be led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha”, he maintained adding, All arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

He noted that security deployment, civil facilitation, electricity and water supply, and transportation logistics have been organised in advance.

He urged residents to assemble at the venue in large numbers.

Labroo said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to combine enforcement with public awareness and community participation in tackling drug abuse.

He emphasised the administration’s effort to involve multiple stakeholders to amplify the anti-drug message.

Highlighting enforcement measures, Labroo said a significant number of FIRs have been registered and that action goes beyond case filings.

“We are ensuring 360-degree action against drug peddlers,” he said, referring to coordinated steps by multiple agencies.

As part of the crackdown, 76 driving licences of individuals linked to drug peddling have been revoked so far.

He added that further action, including proceedings against properties and passports of those involved, is being initiated in accordance with standard operating procedures.
