Jammu, 03 May (H.S.): National Conference Additional General Secretary and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra has made a strong appeal for immediate compensation to the victims of the bridge collapse tragedy at Thathar area of Jammu district.
During a visit to the incident site in the Jammu North Assembly Constituency, Sadhotra emphasized that the Government must prioritize substantial compensation and ex-gratia relief for the next of kin of those who lost their lives.
Highlighting the dire plight of the affected families, Sadhotra noted that these households are not only grappling with immense emotional trauma but have also lost their primary breadwinners.
He stressed that adequate financial assistance is a moral and administrative necessity to help these families cope with their irreparable loss.
In addition to monetary relief for the deceased, the former Minister called for comprehensive medical support and high-quality care for the injured survivor to ensure a speedy recovery.
While welcoming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s announcement of a time-bound inquiry, Sadhotra maintained that accountability must be paired with swift economic support.
He urged the administration to enforce stricter safety protocols and ensure that such development projects never again come at the cost of human dignity or the lives of the working class.
