Bhubaneswar, 03 May (H.S.): The recent increase in milk prices by Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation will benefit dairy farmers, said Minister Gokulananda Mallik on Sunday.
Responding to the revision in milk prices, the Minister stated that the decision has been taken in the interest of farmers. He said the government, along with OMFED, is procuring milk at higher rates to ensure better returns for dairy producers.
Mallik explained that the price hike has been necessitated due to rising processing and transportation costs. He added that the revision was essential to address increased operational expenses in the supply chain.
The Minister further said that even after the revision, OMFED milk remains significantly cheaper compared to other branded dairy products available in the market.
He expressed confidence that the move will directly benefit farmers and encourage higher milk procurement from them, thereby strengthening the cooperative dairy ecosystem in the state.
