New Delhi, 03 May (H.S.):

An Indian Army contingent has departed for Cambodia to participate in the bilateral military exercise ‘CINBAX’ (Cambodia–India Bilateral Exercise), scheduled to be held from 4 to 17 May 2026. The exercise will take place at the Teko Sen Fnoum Thmor Ouch Royal Cambodian Air Force Training Centre (Camp Basil) in Kampong Speu Province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

Conducted under India’s defence cooperation framework, this second edition of CINBAX holds particular significance in the context of evolving global security challenges.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the exercise will be conducted within the framework of Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, and will include joint training on the conduct of campaigns in non‑traditional operational environments. The Indian contingent comprises 120 personnel, mostly drawn from a battalion of the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment.

The Cambodian side will field a contingent of 160 service personnel from the Royal Cambodian Army. The joint exercise is designed to mirror current counter‑terrorism operational procedures followed by peacekeeping forces during United Nations peacekeeping missions.

The objectives of the bilateral exercise will be achieved through a combination of practical field training, interactive discussions, and tactical drills. The programme will also include special‑skills training on drone operations, mortar tactics, and sniper doctrines. The primary aim is to strengthen interoperability, coordination, and operational synergy between the forces of the two countries.

The exercise is expected to showcase both India and Cambodia’s capabilities in supporting global peace and security, while also encouraging the exchange of operational experiences and the sharing of best practices in conducting multidomain operations against hostile forces in semi‑urban environments.
