New Delhi, 03 May (H.S.):
A political controversy has erupted over an alleged remark made by Gujarat BJP president Jagadish Vishwakarma against Congress MP Geniben Thakor during a public meeting in Banaskantha, with the Congress strongly condemning the comment as derogatory and disrespectful towards women.
Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi posted on Facebook saying the remark was not only shameful but also reflective of the party’s misogynistic mindset. He added that, despite the Prime Minister frequently speaking about women’s dignity, his silence on such incidents is deeply concerning.
Similarly, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also condemned the alleged statement, calling it shameful and humiliating. She expressed full support for Congress MP Geniben Thakor, stating that she is aware of the MP’s struggles and stands firmly with her on this issue. She emphasized that matters related to the dignity of women must be taken seriously.
