
Bhubaneswar, 03 May (H.S.): On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik extended their greetings to the media fraternity, highlighting the crucial role of a free and responsible press in a democratic society.
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi emphasized that a free and responsible press is vital to democracy. He reiterated the state government's commitment to upholding press freedom and supporting journalism that is truthful and fearless.
Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, in his message, described a free press as the cornerstone of democracy, stating that all freedoms are dependent on press freedom. He paid tribute to unbiased journalism, calling it a sentinel of truth and the voice of the people.
Patnaik further urged citizens to pledge to defend press freedom, protect journalists, and ensure that their courage in speaking truth continues to strengthen justice and liberty in society.
