Kolkata, 27 May (H.S.): Kolkata Municipal Corporation has sought the “elevation copy” of a building registered in the name of Leaps and Bounds Private Limited, a company associated with Abhishek Banerjee. The civic body has asked for the document to be submitted along with the response to an earlier notice issued regarding the property.
The property, named “Shantiniketan” and located at 188A, Harish Mukherjee Road in south Kolkata, is registered in the name of Leaps and Bounds Private Limited. However, it is reportedly being used as the residence of Abhishek Banerjee. The building is situated close to the residence of Mamata Banerjee.
KMC officials have clarified that a routine written reply will not be sufficient. Along with the response to the notice, the building’s elevation copy must also be submitted for verification of the claims. The document is also expected to graphically depict any structural alterations or additional constructions made to the original building design.
An elevation copy is generally an architectural drawing used in building construction. It presents a two-dimensional representation of the exterior aspects of a structure, including walls, windows, doors, roofs, and other architectural details.
According to sources, KMC has issued notices to 17 properties allegedly owned or co-owned by Abhishek Banerjee. Similar to the “Shantiniketan” property, elevation copies will also have to be submitted in response to notices concerning the other properties.
Sources further stated that under the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Building Rules, 2009, submission of site plans or sketches is mandatory while seeking approval for building designs.
Notably, all 17 properties linked to Abhishek Banerjee are currently under scrutiny, and the civic body is continuously examining the related documents. Three notices have reportedly already been issued in this connection.
