
Mumbai, 27 May (HS): The Maha-Vikas Aghadi has decided to contest all 16 seats to
the Legislative Council and also one by-election in Nagpur. The elections from
the Local Government Authorities constituencies are scheduled for June 18. The
decision to field candidates in all the constituencies was held during a
meeting of leaders of all the MVA partners in Mumbai. Another meeting will be
held two days later to decide distribution of seats among the partners. The
information was given to the media by Congress Regional Unit President
Harshavardhan Sapkal on Wednesday.
Besides
Sapkal, NCP (Sharad Pawar) regiuonal unit President Shashikant Shinde, and MP
Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLAs Anil Parab, Ambadas Danve and Milind
Narvekar attended the meeting.
Sapkal
alleged that BJP does not respect democracy and is engaged in horse trading for
the elections. The partners is BJP-led Mega Alliance are not happy with the
dominance of BJP.
Referring
to road blockade by farmers in Chandwad in Nashik district, Sapkal said that
the Devendra Fadnavis Government was shaken due to the unity of farmers I staging
the agitation. The Government tried to suppress the agitation using police
force. He had to talk to Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the problem of
onion growers in Nashik.
