Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, 27 May (HS): The Multimodal Logistic Park (MMLP)

that is Dry Port became operational with the arrival of the first trial

container rake at Jalna. District Collector Ashima Mittal, Additional District

Collector Ramesh Misal and Manager of Jalna Dry Port Vikas Malik welcomed the

container rake of sponge iron for Polad Steel.

Opening of the dry port also opened doors for industrial development for

the region. The port was developed by the National Highways Logistics

Management Limited and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) under Maharashtra

MMPL and Special Purpose Vehicle project.

The project is a part of the PM Gatishakti and National Logistics policy

to facilitate cheap transportation for industrial development, reduce road traffic

congestion and prevent pollution.

The first phase of the dry port became operational over 64.51 acres of

land. It will also facilitate export-import transactions. All the documentary

formalities were completed in record time.
