New Delhi, May 27 (H.S.): The Delhi Election Commission on Wednesday announced the commencement of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in the national capital. The SIR exercise in Delhi will begin on June 20 and conclude with the publication of the final electoral roll on October 7.

Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar announced during a press conference on Wednesday that the SIR process in the capital will commence from June 20. He stated that the process will begin with the training of officials, which will continue until June 29. Thereafter, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits from June 30 to July 29 to collect information.

He further said that the Election Office will publish the draft electoral roll on August 5, following which Delhi residents will be able to submit objections or applications for correction of any discrepancies until September 4. The final electoral roll will be published on October 7.

The Chief Electoral Officer stated that due to Delhi’s dense population and continuous migration, updating the electoral roll has become necessary. He said the exercise will help in adding new eligible voters and removing the names of those who no longer reside in Delhi.
