New Delhi, May 27 (H.S.): Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday conducted a detailed review of the progress of announcements made in the Delhi Government’s budget, development works, and public welfare schemes through a video conference with senior officials and heads of various departments. She issued strict directions to ensure that these schemes are completed within stipulated timelines.
During the review meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Seva Sadan, the Chief Minister gave clear instructions to all departments to immediately accelerate work for implementing the schemes announced in the budget in a time-bound manner. She stated that the government’s priority is not merely making announcements but ensuring that every scheme reaches its final stage of execution. Warning officials, she said that departments failing to properly utilise budgetary allocations for schemes could face reductions in funding in the next budget. The meeting also included a special discussion on preparations for the monsoon season.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to ensure that cleaning and desilting work of all major and minor drains across the capital is completed before the onset of rains. She said preventing waterlogging is among the government’s top priorities and no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.
On the issue of environmental protection and pollution control, the Chief Minister stated that large-scale plantation drives or grass-cover campaigns should be carried out in areas facing dust pollution or where vacant land is lying unused. She emphasized better coordination among various agencies to make the national capital cleaner and greener.
The Chief Minister also reviewed education-related infrastructure. She directed the concerned departments to ensure timely whitewashing of government schools, repair of toilets, and proper availability of clean drinking water for students. She added that providing students with a better and dignified environment is the responsibility of the government.
Considering the present circumstances, the Chief Minister appealed to officials and employees to seriously follow the “Metro Monday” and work-from-home arrangements. She said this would help save fuel, reduce traffic pressure, and control pollution. She also directed departments to expedite schemes related to solar power and water conservation. She said all departments should work in coordination to make Delhi a model city in the fields of energy conservation and water management.
The Chief Minister further instructed officials that social media should not remain limited to formal communication alone but should also be effectively used for disseminating information about public welfare schemes and ensuring accurate information reaches citizens. All departments were directed to regularly share updates regarding their schemes and achievements.
She said every department should conduct regular reviews of its schemes and continuously update progress reports. She also instructed officials to upload details of pending and important projects on the PM Pragati Portal in a timely manner to ensure effective monitoring of development works.
The meeting also reviewed biometric attendance in various departments, grievance redressal, plantation drives, onboarding of employees on the iGOT platform, and the progress of several development projects.
