ABVP Central Working Committee Meeting Concludes in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, 27 May (H.S.) : The one-day Central Working Committee meeting of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) concluded successfully at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The meeting brought together representatives and karyakartas from across India to deliberate on a wide range of issues concerning education, youth affairs, national security, and organisational development.

The proceedings began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by ABVP National President Prof. Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari, National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki, and National Organising Secretary Shri Ashish Chauhan. The gathering was described as significant for reviewing the organisation’s past work and setting future directions in line with current national and educational challenges.

A key highlight of the meeting was the unanimous adoption of a congratulatory resolution appreciating the mandate of the people of West Bengal. The resolution stated that the political mandate reflected a rejection of violence, fear-based politics, and appeasement, and signaled a restoration of democratic values in the state. Representatives from various states endorsed the resolution following detailed discussions.

The meeting also featured extensive deliberations on India’s education system, the role of youth in nation-building, socio-economic challenges, and emerging global developments. Organisational expansion and review mechanisms were also discussed in detail to strengthen ABVP’s outreach and effectiveness.

Several ongoing and proposed initiatives of the organisation were reviewed, including the “Screen Time to Activity Time” campaign, observance of “150 Years of Vande Mataram,” the “Hostel Survey Campaign,” the birth centenary year of Prof. Yeshwantrao Kelkar, “50 Years of Resistance to Emergency,” the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur, and the 650th Prakatyotsav of Sant Shiromani Ravidas Ji. These initiatives, the organisation noted, reflect its continued emphasis on cultural, educational, and national awareness activities among students.

Addressing the meeting, ABVP National President Prof. Raghuraj Kishore Tiwari emphasized that periodic review of organisational work is essential to ensure relevance in a rapidly changing environment. He highlighted earlier “Vichar Baithaks” held in Dwarka and Sringeri as important milestones in strengthening organisational strategy. He further stated that ABVP envisions an education system rooted in Bharatiya philosophy and values to ensure holistic development of students.

ABVP National General Secretary Dr. Virendra Singh Solanki, in his address, highlighted the organisation’s ongoing initiatives across the country, including movements related to scholarships in Telangana, protests against NEET paper leaks, and campaigns in universities across Delhi and Punjab. He also referred to student-focused activities such as Tribal Student Conferences in Tripura, Chhatra Sansad in Odisha, Law Students’ Conferences in Tamil Nadu, and “Mission Sahasi,” under which self-defence training has been provided to over one million girl students nationwide.

Dr. Solanki further stated that ABVP continues to address issues ranging from educational disparities to what it terms “Urban Naxalism,” while working actively for student welfare and institutional reforms. He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to strengthening student participation in nation-building initiatives.
