Kolkata, 26 May (H.S.): Senior Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar on Tuesday attended an administrative meeting chaired by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, triggering fresh political speculation in the state. Her presence at the meeting has drawn attention as it comes only days after she resigned from the post of district president in the Trinamool Congress.

According to sources, the meeting was held at the APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium in Kalyani and was attended by administrative officials from North 24 Parganas, Nadia and Hooghly districts. Apart from Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, recently elected Trinamool MLA from Deganga Anisur Rahaman was also present at the meeting. The participation of Trinamool leaders in the programme has intensified speculation regarding their political future.

Sources said that after assuming office, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had announced that elected representatives from opposition parties would also be invited to administrative meetings. Following that policy, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and other public representatives were invited to attend Tuesday’s meeting.

In recent weeks, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar had publicly expressed dissatisfaction within the party. She was removed from the post of chief whip of the Trinamool parliamentary party, with the responsibility later handed over to Kalyan Banerjee. Subsequently, she made a cryptic post on X and later resigned from the post of Barasat organisational district president of the Trinamool Congress.

Against this backdrop, political observers are viewing her presence at the Chief Minister’s meeting as a significant political development.

When asked about attending the meeting, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar gave a brief response, saying, “The administration belongs to everyone.” Meanwhile, the presence of the Trinamool MLA at the meeting has also fuelled discussions in political circles.
