Kolkata, 26 May (H.S.): Kolkata Metro has announced partial changes in its services for May 28 on the occasion of Eid. Considering the possibility of lower passenger footfall on the public holiday, metro authorities have decided to reduce the number of trains on several routes.

According to an official notification issued by the metro authorities, services on the Blue, Green and Yellow Lines will operate according to the Saturday schedule on May 28. However, there will be no changes in services on the Purple and Orange Lines.

As per the notification, the Blue Line, which usually operates 260 trains on regular working days, will run 246 trains on Eid. However, there will be no change in the timings of the first and last metro services from terminal stations.

Similarly, the Yellow Line, where 120 trains normally operate on weekdays, will run only 92 trains on Eid. The timings of the first and last trains on this line will also remain unchanged.

On the Green Line, 204 trains will operate instead of the usual 228. The schedule for the first and last metro services on this line too will remain unchanged.

Metro officials stated that passenger numbers generally remain lower on government holidays due to office closures, resulting in reduced demand for buses, trains and metro services. Keeping this in mind, the decision has been taken to operate fewer metro services on Eid as well.

As a result, the gap between two consecutive trains on the Blue, Green and Yellow Lines may increase slightly during the day. However, for the convenience of commuters, the timings of the first and last metro services have been kept unchanged. Metro operations from terminal stations will begin at the regular time of 6:50 am on Eid day as well.
