Thiruvananthapuram,26 May (H.S.):Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday in what will be his first official meeting with the Prime Minister after assuming office as Chief Minister.

The meeting is set to take place at the Prime Minister’s office at Sevateerth at 11:15 a.m. and is expected to focus primarily on Kerala’s key development priorities and pending infrastructure projects requiring central assistance.

According to sources, Chief Minister Satheesan is expected to seek greater support and financial assistance from the Union government for several major projects in the state, including railway infrastructure expansion, port development initiatives, the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and metro rail projects. The discussions are likely to include measures aimed at strengthening Kerala’s connectivity and accelerating long-term infrastructure growth.

The meeting is being viewed as significant as the newly formed state government begins to outline its development agenda and seeks cooperation from the Centre for large-scale projects.

Later in the day, Satheesan is also scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at 2:30 p.m. Discussions during that meeting are expected to focus on financial assistance and issues related to the state’s economic and developmental requirements.

The Chief Minister is also expected to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday before concluding his Delhi visit and returning to Kerala.

Meanwhile, there remains uncertainty over whether Satheesan will also hold discussions with the Congress high command during his stay in the national capital on organisational matters concerning the party. The issue has gained importance following the induction of Sunny Joseph into the state Cabinet, creating a vacancy for the post of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president.

Political observers are closely watching the visit, considering both its administrative and political significance.
