Nagaon (Assam), 26 May (HS): A suspected dacoit was killed in police firing during an operation carried out in Assam’s Nagaon district last night. The deceased has been identified as Khairul Ali.

According to reports, the police launched the operation while Khairul Ali was allegedly planning a robbery. During the operation, police opened fire, leading to his death on the spot.

Sources said Khairul Ali was reportedly the mastermind behind several robbery incidents including Morikolong area. Acting on specific inputs, police conducted a search operation at Barbukuli in Mikirbhata locality, following which five members of the gang managed to flee from the scene.

Police also recovered a pistol along with two empty cartridges from the spot during the operation.-----------
